Everyone beginning a new online business has to start somewhere. So, this is as good a place to start as anywhere. Welcome, and browse this site a little bit. Make money using the internet can be fun. There is a lot of information here, especially for the new people just starting out. Many products and services offered here are free.
First of all, don't let anyone tell you it's going to be easy, like there's going to be some magical button that you press and everything is done for you, and then you just sit back and watch the cash roll in. Don't let anyone tell you it's going to be fast, well for most of us anyway, but the quicker you get started, the faster you will see the results.

Making money on the net will however, be fairly simple. Making money on the internet is going to require you to do a little work, but it won't be hard work. It probably won't even be as hard as what you already do in your 8 to 5 J-O-B. You can even do this in your spare time just to get started. Speaking of time, yes it's going to take some time out of your schedule, there are alot of things to do. Starting in your FREE time is where everyone begins unless you are unfortunate enough to be on unemployment, then this business could really be good for you. It's our goal to be our own boss, to set our own work schedule. The more time you can possibly afford to be devoted to working on your own business the better. To start with, more time equals more business, equals more money, until you get to the point where your business will just about take care of itself, then it becomes magical.

Ah yes, your own business, lots of customers, tons of money rolling in, telling your old boss off, oh sorry, got carried away. Sounds great doesn't it? Well it will be, but it won't become reality until you get it started. Getting started is probably going to be the hardest part. Knowing where to go and what to do once you get there is the key. How do you do this you ask? Information is the answer. Learn as much as you can from those who have done it before. Just like any other job, the young (or maybe not so young) and inexperienced will learn from the older (maybe not so old) experienced pro. Read as much as you can, look at what others are doing and get informed. So now is the time to get off your duff and take some action. There's alot to be done.

We need to put a couple of myths to rest though:

1. You can make money without a website. Well... you can, but if you are business minded and you are going to treat your online sales as a business, it is a must to have your very own website, which you have full control. You can however make some spare cash from your free blog by simply inserting some relevant ads, but beware of the blog hosting rules, make sure they will let you advertise. 2. You have to have your own product to sell. Yes, it's true you need a product to sell, how else are you going to get people to give you money? The product itself doesn't have to be your own. You can become an "affiliate" and sell other people's products, you can use drop shipping companys, which will warehouse products to sell and then ship them for you after you sell them, or if you have a little capital, you could use wholesale companys, where you have to buy and warehouse goods yourself, or you can simply purchase "resell rights" to a particular product you want to sell.

3. You can start your business with NO money. Are you kidding me? You're going to start a business with NO money! Assuming you already have a computer and internet service, if you want to run a full time online business, or any kind of business for that matter, you're going to have to let go of some cash. You CAN do many things for free, like with with a free blog mentioned above, but you will have to advertise just like everyone else. You can do much of that for free too, if you know where to look. You can, however, get started with your own online business website with just a LITTLE money. You're going to spend money on a "Domain Name" and a "Hosting Service". Since you are new to the internet business, you'll probably want to invest a little money in information books or other peoples products. It took me about $230.00 to get going, but then I had the basic tools to get started. I've spent a little more money since then, but when the sales come in, you can spend more, plus it's a tax write-off.

What You Will Need To Start Your Business

Get up and running.

Nobody ever seems to tell us this part.
(This reading is especially devoted to the new guys.)

Bank Account / Transfers

First thing you need is to go to your bank and open a second checking account just for your business. Most banks offer a free business checking account. Throw in ten bucks and get one started. A "no frills" account. If your bank doesn't offer a free account, find a different bank. Then you're going to need a gateway. Some way to get your internet profits into your new bank account. There are two that I trust and both have been around for a long time, and it seems that everyone is using either one or the other. Both are free to join, but will charge you a small amount for transactions. (Hey, that's business.) One is called AlertPay and the other is called PayPal. I am a member of both. If you can, I think it would be a good idea to get a credit card that you can use only for your new online business. No-annual fee hopefully and I would get only about a five hundred dollar limit. Register Your Business

Business Tax ID Number. You need one if you are operating your business from within the US. You can use your social security number, but who wants their social security number out everywhere. If your website is going to have affiliate links, all you are affiliated with will need either your s.s. number or your Business Tax ID. Which would you prefer? Get one from the government for free. If you are going to make money on the internet, don't be a fool and try not to pay taxes on it. Go to your state and the federal government websites and read about the laws pertaining to your situation. To get your Business Tax ID number go to IRS.gov - Small Business

Paying Income Tax. The federal government will tax your "profits". Some States will too. Depending on the state you live in, they may want you to collect state tax too. Again, check it out.
( Did you know if you spend money buying things like domain names, hosting services, and products to help your web business are "business tax deductions"? That means everything on this website, "if it costs you money", is a write-off! )


Get A Website

So, you just found a great product and you want to sell it. Everyone is going to want it. You want people to tell others in their social network. You want word of it to spread like a virus from person to person, eventually resulting in more buzz, attention and sales. You want to do it using the internet, purely online. No TV, newspapers or radio. No print ads. Are you excited yet? Assume you’ve already done all of the above and now you just want an online strategy that will work.

There are many things you can do. Every experienced online marketer will agree that the first step is to set up a home base or launch pad. A website where people can find you and your product online. A place where you can funnel attention and traffic towards. It’s where you pitch your work. It’s what people will be sharing.

The most common way of promoting a new product involves the development of a new website or web page to showcase it. In either case, the goal is to provide information about the product, capture attention, generate interest, desire, and sales.

Think of a good "domain name" for your business. Your business name should reflect what you are selling. (joesflowers.com wouldn't be selling computer programs, joe would be selling flowers.) If a new webpage is built, it usually takes the form of a straightforward sales letter and is hosted on an existing domain. Set up a "landing page" for your product on your existing personal website or blog. If you don't have a website, buy a new domain name that is similar or related to the product you want to sell. This could include a blog where you can share knowledge by posting essays, and articles related to your new product. To start with, you could use the sales letter format itself to be the "index" of your website. Then as time goes on you can develope a deeper website.

The answer is EVERYONE. (Except for those of you who are already rich.)

Become an affiliate and sell other people's stuff.

Use companies like LinkShare and ShareASale to find those businesses who really want you to market their goods. In exchange for you doing the marketing on your web site, they will pay you a commission on everything you sell, or every person you get to sign up for their program. Signing up is quick, easy and best of all free. There a many more affiliate networks, I just happen to like those two. There is a drop down list of affiliate networks located at the top of this page. Find your niche, something you like, look for a merchant and advertise his product on your site. These companys will provide the sales info for you. Advertise with small graphics or huge banners, or you can still use plain text. Get your business id number, or your social security number ready, because at sign up all affiliate networks will need it for their W-9 forms.

Advertise other people's products.

If you already have a web site or a blog, look for vendors that offer related but non-competing products and see if they have an affiliate program. Stick to familiar products and brands - they're easier to sell. Don't try and do too much. Don't try to please all the people all the time. You're be better off finding one product that a lot of people want, rather than having a lot of products that nobody wants.

To promote those products:

Place simple text or graphical ads in appropriate places on your site. You can even use Google Adsense. Include links to purchase products you review or recommend in a blog, discussion forum, or mailing list you control. Create a dedicated sales page or web site to promote a particular product.

They all work - it just depends on how much time you have to spend on it and your level of expertise with web design and marketing. Affiliate Business Blueprint

Buy wholesale or use dropshippers.

If you have some extra capital, you can purchase products for resale from wholesalers. Buy your product, warehouse it somewhere, mark it up and sell it for a profit. It's that easy. If you use dropshippers, you don't have to warehouse the goods you sell, and you don't have to pay for the goods until they are sold. Try Doba Dropshipping, or World Wide Brands, they both have thousands of products for resale. You have to sign up, but you get a free trial. There are pros and cons to both as always. Choose what you think is best for you.

Sell on eBay

There is a lot of money to be made as a seller on eBay. Thousands and thousands of sales are made each day, resulting in a lot of income for a lot of sellers. And there is still room for you if you want to get involved – whether you want to earn some part time cash or set up a whole new full time business on the side.

But where do you get your stock from? How do you get started? And how can you build a business that gives you PowerSeller status? Relax – you’re about to find out.

It’s easy work to get started earning money on eBay. Once you’ve signed up for your free account the best way to get a feel for what selling is like is to auction off some of your personal items that you no longer want. If you are going to start buying stock to resell, you’ll do better by getting some basic selling experience first.

While we are on the subject of stock, you’ll need to decide what kind of business you are going to set up. Of course you can sell anything you like, but if you want to make a name for yourself it helps to become known for selling a specific type of product.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean your product area needs to be a small one; on the contrary it could be quite large. You could sell toys for example – there’s plenty there to keep any seller going for months on end without selling the same thing twice. You do need to pick a popular product though, and it’s worth doing some research using eBay’s advanced search feature to find out what is selling and how much it’s selling for.

So let’s say you want to sell computer games, for example. There are hundreds of games you could buy to sell here, but if you don’t know which ones will sell you could lose a lot of money buying the wrong stock. By searching the ended listings you can see which titles consistently sell well, and which ones will produce the best profit for you.

Okay – so you know how to figure out what to buy. Now you need to know where to get it from. It stands to reason that no seller is going to tell you where they get their stock; that would be like giving away the keys to their business. In order to find the best sources for stock you need to do a bit of legwork.

We should mention here that there are three main sources for stock – information, wholesalers and dropshippers. All have their pros and cons; it just depends on which method you personally prefer.

People love information. How to do things. How to fix things etc., and they are willing to pay for it. Information like e-books can sell well at eBay. Find a good informative e-book on a popular topic, get the resale rights or affilliate with the author, advertise it and people will buy it.

Dropshippers hold all the stock for you, so you only actually pay for an item once you’ve received payment from the customer. You may have to pay a fee to join the scheme in the first place though. If you choose to go with one or more wholesalers you will need to have the room to warehouse the stock, and the money to buy it in advance. This comes with more risk since you could buy stock that doesn’t sell, but with the tactic we’ve already covered for checking completed listings before you order anything, the risk here should be kept to a minimum.

So – back to where to find these sources. If you have a particular product in mind that you want to sell, the simple act of looking at the packaging can often reveal the name of the supplier. You can then check out their website to see what else they do. Try Doba Dropshipping, or World Wide Brands, they both have thousands of products for resale. You have to sign up, but you get a free trial. See if either is right for you.

Building your feedback is an important part of being a good seller and the higher you can get your score the better. It sets you apart as being a dedicated seller. And the faster your score climbs, the closer you get to attaining PowerSeller status.

The PowerSeller symbol is highly prized among serious eBay sellers, and there are five levels to strive for. The first is Bronze, and it’s a lot easier to reach than you might think. While you might set a goal for yourself to reach PowerSeller, you will find that if you build up your product range and gradually increase your sales, you will reach it in no time. Many sellers have their own store on eBay, but it’s not necessary when you first get started. In fact you are often better off waiting until you have a good range of stock before opening a shop, since it can look rather empty if you only have a handful of items. The final thing to think about is the price of the items you are selling. It stands to reason that if you sell a hundred different products in the $5 to $10 price range, you won’t make as much cash as you would selling a hundred in the $50 to $100 price range.

But you need to work out what you enjoy selling and what you can sell lots of to experience real success on eBay. Don’t go for expensive products just because they might bring a bigger profit. Go for your calling – that’s where you will experience the biggest success.

Above all, remember that it can take time to build a successful business – but if you’re determined to achieve real success on eBay you should also be enjoying the journey.

You can write one article, then change it around slightly to submit it to other sites.

Submit your website to search engines.

To submit your website to search engines, take a look at EntireWeb Service, Free Web Submission, Submit Express, Search Engine Submission - AddMe. These sites of course will want you to sign up to recieve their news letter and other promotions. This is good because it will give you other ideas about how to market your site. You could go and get a free e-mail account from gmail to use for this type of mailing. After you sign up they will send you a lot of ads and it might clutter your website email.

Your OWN list and why it's important to start one.

Although you are going to have to advertise some way to find visitors, try to make the most out of the visitors you get. The people that visit your site, who fill out your form, genuinely want what you have to offer. By adding them to a list, you will already have somebody that might be interested in something else you have to offer, and you can contact them directly. When your visitors sign up on your list, be sure to inform them that they could recieve advertisments from you in the future. Another way to protect yourself from being considered a spammer is to make your form "double opt-in". This is where your prospect has to go to his e-mail and click a link that you sent him, which confirms that he wants to know what you have to offer. Otherwise, your ads will be considered as spam, and could potentially get you in trouble if your recipiants complain. Always have an "opt out" url in your e-mail ad in case the person decides not to view your ads (or newsletter) anymore. This is not so bad, because that particular person probably wasn't going to buy from you anyway.
I hate spam, I think everyone does, and you don't want to have anything to do with being a spammer.

Trying to keep track of your prospect list on your own could be difficult, especially if it grows quite large. Trying to e-mail through your host ISP yourself could potentially get you into trouble also because of spam rules. Some ISP's have filters built in to throw your e-mail ad in the trash before your prospect even reads it. You could try and use autoresponder software yourself, take the risk of being suspended from your host, but I think, sometimes processes like an e-mail campaign should be left to the professionals.

There are many services out there that are specialists in e-mail campaigns, with tools that you can use to help make your e-mails "spam friendly". One is Get Response and another is AWeber. These are two services that have been in the business of e-mail marketing for a long time. Each of these companys have the form templates that you load right to your website, and all the other tools necessary for you to become a successful, list building, e-mail marketer.
